Traditions of Brazil
There's a lot of traditions that are a part of Brazil! Here's a list of some of them.
- Papai Noel
- Thirteenth Salaries
- Nativity Scenes
- Christmas Eve
- Christmas Lunch
- The Little Christmas Box
- Amigo Secreto

Papai Noel
This is just the Brazillian version of your typical, well-known Santa Claus. Every year he delivers presents to children through chimneys on Christmas Eve to kids that have been good for the year and haven't done anything mischievous.
Thirteenth Salaries
During Christmas time employees would receive twice their normal amount of pay instead in the month of December. This allowed for people to have extra money to be able to spend on other people.
Nativity Scenes
These are common to have as decoration as they show the birth of Jesus and him laying in a bed of straw. They're common to have around due to religion.
Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve is a big day as people gather with friends and family to celebrate the holiday. The star meal is usually presented at 10 pm and then when the clock strikes 12 everyone celebrates and exchanges gifts with one another.

Christmas Eve Dinner
The night before Christmas is the big day that most families celebrate the most and this dinner is the most important and the one filled with the best foods.
The Little Christmas Box
Low salary workers will sometimes have a carboard box wrapped up by them so people can donate coins and small amounts of money to help out these less fortunate people during the holiday season.
Amigo Secreto
This is much like what is known as Secret Santa. Each person has to buy a gift for someone else and then they guess who bought who which gift before they give them away. This is a fun way that they like to enjoy their Christmas and exchange presents.
